In the Midst of Life

This story was written for my first term Creative Writing portfolio during my graduate program. It was inspired by reading excerpts from Einstein’s Dreams in which each ‘Dream’ involves a conception of time, and I began to think of these different manifestations of time, like a world where time is a circle, or where people don’t create memories but carry around notebooks to record their lives. And then I began to think of time physically manifested within the human body, and that’s where the idea for “In the Midst of Life” came. I wrote the first draft in two frenzied bursts of midnight writing (the best kind 🙂 ).

You can read the full text here. It was first published by Quail Bell Magazine in December 2013.
